⒈ /p/，/b/，/t/，/d/，/k/，/g/這6個爆破音中的任何兩個音素相鄰時，前者發不完全爆破音，後者則要完全地、徹底地進行爆破。如：

1） He has a ba（d） col（d） today。

2） You shoul（d） ta（k）e care of the children。 Gla（d） to meet you。

⒉爆破音/p/，/b/，/t/，/d/，/k/，/g/在/tF/，/dV/，/W/，/T/的前面時不完全爆破。如：

1） Have you rea（d） the book abou（t） tha（t） child。

2） The thir（d） chair is broken。

⒊爆破音/p/，/b/，/t/，/d/，/k/，/g/在/m/，/n/，/l/，/s/的前面時不完全爆破。如：

1） Goo（d） morning，sir。

發爆破音時氣流在通路上開始完全阻塞（成阻），隨後氣流有力、急促地衝開這種阻礙而發出爆破聲（除阻）。單獨發爆破音必須經過成阻、持阻和除阻三個階段。發爆破音時，時間不可延長，一發即逝。爆破音有清濁三對，每對的發音部位相同，它們是：

1．通常讀／p／和／b／的字母和字母組合有：
