1。take part in \participate in 可以互換，表示參加某種活動

但側重點不同：

1）take part in指參加群眾性活動、會議、勞動、遊行等，往往指參加者持有積極的態度，起一份作用。

①Will you take part in the English evening？同我們一起參加英語晚會好嗎？

②All the students took an active part in the thorough cleaning。所有的學生都積極參加了大掃除。

③We should take an active part in school activities。我們應該積極參加學校的活動。

3）通常指參與並分享其中的快樂

①How many people participated in the opening ceremony？ 多少人參加了開業典禮？

②Everyone in the class is expected to participate in the discussion。 希望全班同學參加討論。

③I am sure the wide awake people of this country will participate in the debate。我相信這個國家的有識之士肯定會參加這場辯論。

這三個詞兒意思的確比較相近，但是join主要的意思是加入，而take part in 和participate的主要意思是參與

要說具體分別，join往往是指一個人成為某某組織或行動的成員，一份子

比如加入工會，會說i joined a union，而不應該用take part in或者participate

後面兩個一般是說參加某項活動，而take part in比participate更有主動的感覺

比如i participated in the parade。 我參與了遊行（我也就是和他們一起走走）

但是i took part in the parade。的感覺就像是我還或多或少有點兒組織者的意思

當然這裡也可以用join，寫作 i joined them for the parade。 但是這裡的重點就在於“them”其它遊行的人，關鍵還是在遊行的成員上，而不是parade這個活動本身
