還在糾結是用 who 還是 whom 嗎？分辨這兩個詞之間的區別比看上去容易，關鍵是要知道它們在句中起什麼作用。其實 whom 中多出來的字母“m”可以成為徹底弄明白 who 與 whom 之間區別的法寶。

一、who 和 whom 的區別

Who 和 whom 都是關係代詞，它們的功能是把一個名詞或另一個代詞與一個短語或從句聯絡起來。它們在疑問句中也可以充當疑問代詞。然而，即使它們都是同一種代詞，它們也不能互換。

Who 是主格代詞，通常只能用作一個句子的主語，也就是句子中執行動作的人，而 whom 是賓格代詞，只用作一個句子的賓語，也就是動作的接受者，例如：

who：

Who handed it to her？

是誰交給她的？

His friend， who lives in Austin， came to visit。

他住在奧斯汀的朋友來看他。

I wasn’t the one who made him feel unwelcome。

不是我讓他覺得不受歡迎。

People who take time to be kind are rewarded for their good deeds。

花時間做善事的人會因他們的善行而得到回報。

whom：

He is the one whom I love。

他是我愛的人。

Whom shall I call？

我該給誰打電話？

Those flowers came from whom？

那些花是誰送的？

He is the teacher whom we adore。

他是我們崇拜的老師。

二、識別技巧

1. who 和 whom 的區別其實就是主格代詞（he，she 等）與賓格代詞（him，her 等）的區別，當句子缺的是類似 he 或 she 等主語時用 who，缺的是類似 him 或 she 等賓語時用 whom，也就是試著用它們去替代 who 或 whom 後變陳述句，如果句子是正確的，就用對了，例如：

Who is the best in class？

誰是班上最好的？

解析：當用 he 替代 who 還原成陳述句時，變成 he is the best in class，很明顯這是對的。

This is for whom？

這是給誰的？

解析：當用 him 替代 whom 還原成陳述句時，變成 this is for him，很明顯這也是對的。

2. whom 和 him 都以字母“m”結尾，所以如果可以用 him 來回答對應的提問，那麼 whom 就用對了，如果不行，那麼就要考慮用 who 了，例如：

誰吃了最後一塊餅乾？

Who ate the last cookie？

He ate the last cookie。 （正確）

Him ate the last cookie。 （錯誤）

你為誰烤的餅乾？

For whom did you bake these cookies？I baked these cookies for him。 （正確）

I baked these cookies for he。 （錯誤）
