settle down（定居，安下心來）

1。I must settle down

this morning and finish the term paper。

settle in

（遷入，適應）

1。 Later， man began to settle in the places where the food and water

were plentiful。

2。 He can‘t seem to settle

in a steady job； every two years or so he pulls up skates， moves to another city

and starts again。

他似乎不能找一份固定的工作安定下來，大概每隔兩年他就離開去另一個城市重新開始。

be settle和is settle 的區別

is是be動詞的第三人稱單數

be settle可能是筆誤，應該是be

settled，根據不同上下文，有不同的意思

1。做“定居”的意思

This was one of the first areas to be

settled by Europeans。。。

這是歐洲人最早的定居地之一。

2。做“安排好，確定”的意思

As far as we’re

concerned， the matter is settled。。。

我們這邊已經安排妥當了。

settle和assign的區別

settle作動詞，可表示多種含義，如“定居；安頓；坐下；（使„„）安定下來；確定；解決（糾紛等）”。它通常是一個比較徹底的安排或解決問題，更深一些。

安放；安頓；安排；料理

He settled his child in a corner of the compartment。

他把孩子安頓在車廂的一個角落裡。

2。 使（雜質）沉澱；使（液體）澄清

3。 使（自己）安下心來；使（心情）平靜下來，使安寧

After the excitement I tried to

這兩間大教室已經分配給我們了。

2。指定某人做一工作或任一職務； 委派， 選派某人： They‘ve assigned their best man

to the job。 他們選派了最合適的人做那項工作。 * One of the members was assigned to take the minut
